JobPass has started in WA

Licensing

JobPass is the new name for Automatic Mutual Recognition and started on 1 July.

It is a national scheme that allows workers who hold occupational registrations in Australian states and territories, including for gasfitting work, to work in other states or territories without obtaining a new licence.

When working in WA, a JobPass worker can only undertake activities that are covered by their home State registration. When undertaking those activities, they must comply with WA laws and regulations.

JobPass applies to licensed individuals, not to businesses. The individual who wants to work under the JobPass system must lodge an application form with the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS). Once their application is accepted, they are deemed to be registered and are immediately subject to all the WA laws and regulations that apply to their occupation.
