WA's new Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws will now come into effect in March 2022. They were originally scheduled for January.
Exposure drafts of the supporting regulations are now available.
About the new Act
The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 brings together work health and safety for general industry, mines and petroleum and geothermal operations under a single Act.
Among the many changes it is bringing is the new offence of industrial manslaughter, which carries a range of penalties including imprisonment.
A link to the Act and an overview document that explains what it means are available from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) website's page about the Work Health and Safety Act.
Exposure drafts of new regulations
When the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 comes into effect in March 2022, new WHS regulations will also come into effect.
