The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA works hard at promoting the importance of a regulated plumbing industry and the professionalism of WA's licensed plumbing contractors. We got some runs on the board in July.
On Friday 7 July, we published our media release in support of the WA Government's amendments to the Plumbers Licensing and Plumbing Standards Regulations 2000. These amendments are significant because they mean WA's plumbing regulations will reflect the latest Plumbing Code of Australia.
You can more about it in this news item or jump straight to the full text of the media release.
Within an hour of the media release going out, Radio 6PR was on the phone requesting an interview with our CEO, Murray Thomas. The interview took place a little later that afternoon, and 6PR listeners heard about WA's long journey towards plumbing regulation reforms. As Murray always does on such occasions, he explained why consumers should always choose qualified professional plumbers who are members of this Association.
The other great success story of the month is the Plumbing Industry Trade Day, held on Thursday 13 July at North Metropolitan TAFE.
This was attended by Training Minister Simone McGurk, more than 150 plumbers and apprentices, and representatives of the many generous companies that supported the event.
In case you've missed them, you can see photos from the Plumbing Industry Trade Day on this Facebook photo album.
