Educate your customers with these shocking fatberg photos

Photos of WA's biggest ever 'fatberg' — a disgusting 30-tonne mountain of non-flushable material — show what happens when the wrong products go down the toilet.

An excavator took two days to remove the fatberg from Water Corporation’s Woodman Point Water Resource Recovery Facility in Munster earlier this month.

Fatbergs are created when fats, oils and grease in wastewater combine with non-flushable material. They a continual source of costly and time-consuming work for Water Corporation and because they cause blockages in sewers and wastewater pumps that can result in wastewater overflows, they are also a serious public health hazard.

Plumbers can assist by taking every opportunity to educate customers that the only things they should flush down the toilet are the 3Ps — pee, poo and toilet paper.
