WaterMark Certified flexible hose assemblies

WaterMark

We want to remind all our members about what they risk if they install flexible hose assemblies that are not certified to the latest Australian Standards AS 3718:2021 and AS 3499:2022.

These products are not visible or listed on the WaterMark Product Data Base, therefore are not legally allowed to be installed.

All flexible hose assemblies were required to be transitioned to comply with AS 3718:2021 and AS 3499:2022 by December 31, 2024.

Under current legislation, it is legal for suppliers to sell non-certified plumbing products but illegal for plumbers to install them.

It is the installing plumber’s responsibility to ensure any products they install are compliant with Australian Standards. Installing non-certified products leaves the plumber open to legal action if the product fails and causes damage.

Under Australian Standards requirements, all flexible hose assemblies must be marked to identify which Australian Standard they comply with. There is no requirement to show whether this is the current Standard.

Plumbers must check the WaterMark Product Data Base to confirm the product they are using is certified to the current Standard.
