Industrial relations

The Fair Work Commission has increased the National Minimum Wage and minimum award wages.

The decision was announced on Wednesday 15 June and takes effect on Friday 1 July.

The National Minimum Wage will increase by $1.05 an hour to $21.38 an hour. This is a $40 per week increase and takes the weekly minimum wage to $812.60.

The increases to the minimum wages in modern awards will depend on the amount of the wage.

  • If the current minimum wage is $869.60 per week or less, the increase will be $40 per week
  • If the current minimum wage is above $869.60 per week, the increase will be 4.6 per cent

For awards in the aviation, tourism, and hospitality industries, the increases will be delayed until 1 October 2022.
