The World Plumbing Council (WPC) annual scholarship program provides up to US $15,000 to an individual for travel to another country to learn and exchange plumbing industry knowledge. Applications for this year's scholarship close on 30 September 2023.
The WPC offers three scholarship opportunities, two of which are only for applicants from developing or least developed countries. People in the plumbing industry in Australia would be eligible for the WPC Education and Training Scholarship for applicants from developed countries.
The requirements are rigorous and the WPC wants high-quality applications from people who "demonstrate an active involvement in the plumbing industry in their own country, preferably in the field of plumbing training and education."
While using their scholarship funding, the successful applicant will be encouraged to focus on
- Identification of emerging vocational training needs and trends
- Plumbing training and education to address environmental and sustainability issues
- The value of water efficiency to the community and the plumbing industry
- How does plumbing training or lack of training affect public health in a country or region?
They must also complete their program and provide two written reports to the WPC Secretariat no later than 31 October 2024.
