If you want to make sure you get paid for your 'do and charge' work, your invoices should include properly worded Terms and Conditions.
The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA has just added a set of 'do and charge' Terms and Conditions to its free resources for members. This document, which was created for us by lawyers, provides customers with a detailed description of pricing and payment arrangements such as call out fees, prepayments and deposits and progress payments.
Another protection in the document is that once a customer has accepted the Terms and Conditions, there is undeniable proof that a debt exists. This means collection of payment for work done should be subject to fewer disputes, leading to a more secure cash flow.
How Association members should use the Terms and Conditions
The document is a template that members will need to modify slightly before using.
- In Section 1. Definitions, add your company name
- In Section 3.4 Pricing, adjust the pricing schedule to make it the same as your pricing
- Copy and paste the document to the back of your invoice document
How Association members can download their copy
Members should log into the members-only area and select the 'Commercial Contracts' page under Members' Resources (on the left-hand side of the page). Then, select the document called 'Commercial Ts & Cs for Do and Charge Invoices.docx'
