The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA thanks Neil Savery, former CEO of the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB), for his service to the industry.
Neil, whose term as CEO ended earlier this year, has a long connection with the building and construction industry. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he held the positions of Executive Director of Planning SA, the Chief Planning Executive of the ACT Planning and Land Authority, and the Deputy Victorian Building Commissioner. He represented all three jurisdictions as a Board member on the ABCB.
Neil encouraged collaboration across different stakeholder groups in the industry and was always available to discuss plumbing matters.
His many achievements as CEO included leading five rounds of amendments to the National Construction Code (NCC), improvements to the WaterMark Certification Scheme and the industry's response to the Building Confidence Report.
To read more about Neil's work at the ABCB and why he is so highly regarded, see ABCB farewells Neil Savery.
We wish Neil and his family all the very best for the future.
We also look forward to continuing to work closely with the team at the ABCB, which is now led by new CEO Gary Rake.
As the national body responsible for the NCC, WaterMark and CodeMark Certification Schemes and regulatory reform, the ABCB has a far-reaching influence with a positive impact on everyone in our industry.
