NCC 2022 preview is now available

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has released the preview of National Construction Code (NCC) 2022.

Keeping to their publicised schedule, the ABCB published the NCC 2022 preview today.

This is the first of two preview stages and excludes amendments to energy efficiency and condensation management, which are still being finalised. The second stage will have everything and is scheduled for August 2022.

The preview is currently available only in downloadable pdf format. There are separate documents for NCC Volume 1, Volume 2 and Volume 3, which is the Plumbing Code of Australia.

To view any one of those three documents, you need to be registered on the ABCB NCC Online website and logged in.

If you are registered, you can use this direct link to log in and download Volume 3 - Plumbing Code of Australia.

If you need to register, you can do so on the NCC Online registration page.

The important changes for plumbers

For plumbers, the big change is the new requirement for lead-free plumbing products. This will comes into effect on 1 Septemeber 2025 after a transition period that involves this implementation plan.

Other changes affect water efficiency, sanitary plumbing and drainage pipe sizing, heated water temperature delivery, drinking water pressure limits and on-site wastewater management.

NCC 2022 Seminars for plumbers

There will be a seminar in Perth in August and another in Rockingham in September, as well as a webinar in September.
