Water Corporation is expanding their $400 rebate offer to the metro region, giving all residential customers access to the rebate when they replace a single-flush toilet with a dual-flush toilet rated WELS 4-star or higher.
The offer was launched in November 2024 to regional WA customers only, but Perth and Peel customers are also eligible from 4 March 2025.
Licensed plumbers are essential to the success of this program. This is mainly because one of the conditions of the Waterwise Toilet Rebate is that a licensed plumber must perform the installation.
It is also mandatory for customers in the metro region to use a waterwise endorsed plumber. Customers in the regions are encouraged to use a waterwise plumber if one is available.
Full details are on the Waterwise Toilet Rebate page of the Water Corporation website. The following outline is designed to help plumbers inform customers about key points including the eligibility requirements and online application process.
How does the rebate program work?
Water Corporation is offering up to 300 rebates of $400 each, which will be credited to the customer's Water Corporation account.
The program will end on 31 May 2025 or when the limit of 300 rebates is reached, whichever comes first.
The rebate is towards the cost of replacing a single-flush toilet with a WELS 4-star or higher water rated toilet at a property connected to Water Corporation’s scheme water.
Customers may claim a rebate for up to two toilets per property, with a $400 rebate per toilet. Water Corporation will review strata managed properties on a case-by-case basis.
Why is Water Corporation offering this rebate?
Toilet flushing accounts for over 10 per cent of the water used in homes.
Old single-flush toilets use 12 litres of water per flush. A WELS 4-star dual-flush toilet uses 4.5 litres for a full flush and 3 litres for a half flush.
In other words, replacing an old single-flush toilet with a WELS 4-star toilet can cut toilet flush water by more than half. This is better for the environment and reduces water bills.
Who is eligible for the rebate?
All Western Australian residential customers who are connected to Water Corporation’s scheme water.
How do customers apply for the rebate?
Customers must have all the following ready before applying.
- At least two photos showing the old toilet and the new toilet installed - these photos must show the single and dual flush buttons of the new toilet, and the area around the toilet to prove the new toilet was installed in the same room the old toilet was removed from
- A Water Corporation bill so they have their account number
- Scan or photo of tax invoice/receipt for purchase of the new toilet
- Scan or photo of tax invoice/receipt from a licensed plumber for the installation (this may be combined with the one above)
For full details about eligibility, customers are strongly advised to read the Waterwise Toilet Rebate terms and conditions.
