Free for members - Workshop on managing common employee issues

Association news

Members of The Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association of WA are invited to attend a free 'Managing the Employment Lifecycle' workshop on Thursday 1 August 2024.

The workshop is designed to make employers aware of issues that can arise at any time from the offer of employment through to termination, and how to manage them.

The facilitator is a professional legal trainer with extensive 'real world' experience in industrial relations and employment law, so this is an opportunity to learn from one of the best in the field.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to

  1. Recognise when an offer of employment is made and when it can be withdrawn
  2. Recognised how awards interact with the contract of employment
  3. Identify the risks of pre-employment assessments (medical and police clearances) and how to use them appropriately
  4. Identify the dangers of incorporating policies and procedures into the employment contract
  5. Effectively manage the legal risks associated with managing poor performance, misconduct and disciplinary issues
  6. Terminate an employee's employment and minimise the related legal risks

Although the workshop is free for members, prior registration no later than Friday 19 July is essential.
